10.07.2010; New animal and public health and veterinary certification conditions for the introduction into the European Union of raw milk and dairy products intended for human consumption
Commission Decision 2004/438/EC is laying down animal and public health and veterinary certifications conditions for introduction in the Community of heat-treated milk, milk-based products and raw milk intended for human consumption.

Since the date of adoption of that Decision, a number of new animal health and public health requirements have been laid down, constituting a new regulatory framework in this area, which should be taken into account in a new Legal Act.

Therefore a new Regulation is now laying down animal and public health and veterinary certification conditions for the introduction into the European Union of raw milk and dairy products intended for human consumption and applies from 1 August 2010.

From that date Decision 2004/438/EC will be repealed.

For a certain transitional period, consignments of raw milk and milk-based products as defined in Decision 2004/438/EC in respect of which the relevant health certificates have been issued in accordance with Decision 2004/438/EC may continue to be introduced into the European Union.
