05.12.09; Lists of third countries and certification requirements for importation of semen of domestic animals of the porcine species into the European Community
Commission Decision 2002/613/EC sets out a list of third countries from which EU Member States are to authorise imports of semen. That list is established on the basis of the animal health status of those third countries. Decision 2002/613/EC also sets out a list of semen collection centres from which EU Member States are to authorise the importation of semen.

Furthermore Annex III and IV to that Decision sets out models of the veterinary certificate which are to be used when consignments of semen are imported into the EU.

Because of several important amendents which are to be made in Decision 2002/613/EC the European Commission has decided to replace this Decision with a complete new Decision which shall apply from 15 December 2009.

One of the important amendments implies the introduction of a simplified procedure of listing and publishing the list of semen collection centres in third countries approved for imports of semen into the EU.
