23.03.2010; List of third countries, territories, zones or compartments from which poultry and poultry products may be imported into and transit through the Community and the veterinary certification requirements A special Commission Regulation provides that the poultry and poultry products covered by it are only to be imported into and transited through the European Union from the third countries, territories, zones or compartments listed in the Annex thereto. It also lays down the veterinary certification requirements for such commodities and models of the veterinary certificates to accompany them are also set out in that Annex.
The Regulation has been amended today. This amendment forsees that in the event of an outbreak of Newcastle disease on the territory of certain third countries certain alternative certification requirements for day-old chicks and hatching eggs of poultry and ratites as well as poultry and ratite meat can be applied.
The amendment applies from 12 April 2010 and foresees in new certificates for several commodities.
Commodities in respect of which the relevant veterinary certificates have been issued in accordance with the "old requirements" may continue to be imported into or transited through the European Union for a transitional period.
